Originally from Hackensack, New Jersey, Joseph Bonaparte is the executive director at the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach at Horry Georgetown Technical College.
Bonaparte’s passion for the kitchen started at home where he would cook alongside his mother often making homemade pasta for his large Italian family.
He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in hospitality from the University of Houston.
Under his lead at HGTC, students learn the art of cooking and restaurant operations with a hands-on approach. Students train in real restaurant settings at two restaurants on the college’s Conway and Myrtle Beach campuses - The Fowler Dining Room and The Beach Bistro. Both restaurants are open to the public.
